THE HEALING WORD

How long can we live in health?
Genesis 6:3  And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

Psalms 91:16  With a long life I will satisfy thee.

Our covenant for healing.
Isaiah 53:4  Surely our griefs (sicknesses) He Himself bore, and our sorrows (pain) He carried, yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God and afflicted.

Jesus delivers our healing.
Matthew 8:17  In order that what was spoken through Isaiah the Prophet might be fulfilled, saying, "He Himself took our Infirmities, and carried away our diseases."

1 Peter 2:24  He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die to sin, and live unto righteousness: for by His stripes you were healed.

Our authority, His power.
Luke 10: 19  Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall injure you.

Romans 8:11  But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who indwells you.

Mark 16:17-18  And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover.

Our faith for healing.
Hebrews 11:6  But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Hebrews 11:1  Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen.

James 5:15  The prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if we have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

Our confidence for healing.
Mark 11:29  Therefore, I say to you: "All things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they shall be granted you."

John 14:13-14  And whatever you ask in my name, that will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in My name, I will do it

The Healing Word is the imparting of power to heal, cure, repair, and make whole the physical body and deliver it from demons and diseases. It heals without human aids and medicines or natural means of any kind. The purpose of it is to completely banish human ills, whether they be acute or chronic, organic, functional, or nervous. It is exercised by simple faith through believers who may have no knowledge of physiology, diseases, symptoms, drugs, or surgery.

The purposes of God's Healing Power are to:

1. Deliver the sick and to destroy the very works of the devil in the body;
Matthew 8:16-17     When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and He drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: "He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases. "
Acts 10:38     How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how He went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with Him.
1 Peter 2:24     He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
Isaiah 53:3-5     He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces He was despised, and we esteemed Him not. Surely He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered Him stricken by God, smitten by Him, and afflicted. But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed.
Psalms 103:1-3     Praise the LORD, 0 my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name.  Praise the LORD, 0 my soul, and forget not all His benefits who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.
James 5:14-16     Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.  Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

2.  To confirm the Word of God,
Mark 16:15-20     He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well. "After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was taken up into heaven and He sat at the right hand of God. Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.
Hebrews 2:3-4     How shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard Him.  God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His will.

3. To establish the claims of Jesus,
Matthew 9:l-8     Jesus stepped into a boat, crossed over and came to His own town. Some men brought to Him a paralytic, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, "Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven. " At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, "This fellow is blaspheming!" Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, "Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts? Which is easier: to say, 'Your sins are forgiven, ' or to say, 'Get up and walk'? But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.... " Then he said to the paralytic, "Get up, take your mat and go home. " And the man got up and went home. When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to men.
John 10:10     The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
John 10:36-38     What about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world?  Why then do you accuse Me of blasphemy because I said, 'I am God's Son'? Do not believe Me unless I do what my Father does. But if I do it, even though you do not believe Me, believe the miracles, that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father. "
John 14:11     Believe Me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; or  at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.

4. To establish and prove the doctrine of the resurrection,
Acts 3:15-16     You killed the author of life, but God raised Him from the dead. We are witnesses of this. By faith in the name of Jesus, this Man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus' name and the faith that comes through Him that has given this complete healing to Him, as you can all see.
Romans 8:11     And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.

5. To attract people to the gospel,
Acts 4:4     But many who heard the message believed, and the number of men grew to about five thousand.
Acts 20:11-20     Then he went upstairs again and broke bread and ate. After talking until daylight, he left. The people took the young man home alive and were greatly comforted. We went on ahead to the ship and sailed for Assos, where we were going to take Paul aboard. He had made this arrangement because he was going there on foot. When he met us at Assos, we took him aboard and went on to Mitylene. The next day we set sail from there and arrived off Kios. The day after that we crossed over to Samos, and on the following day arrived at Miletus. Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus to avoid spending time in the province of Asia, for he was in a hurry to reach Jerusalem, if possible, by the day of Pentecost. From Miletus, Paul sent to Ephesus for the elders of the church. When they arrived, he said to them: "You know how I lived the whole time I was with you, from the first day I came into the province of Asia. I served the Lord with great humility and with tears, although I was severely tested by the plots of the Jews. You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house.

6. To turn people to God,
Acts 4:4     But many who heard the message believed, and the number of men grew to about five thousand.
Acts 5:12-16     The apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders among the people. And all the believers used to meet together in Solomon's Colonnade. No one else dared join them, even though they were highly regarded by the people. Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number. As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter's shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by evil spirits, and all of them were healed.
Acts 9:35     All those who lived in Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.

7. And to carry on the work that Jesus started.
Acts 1:1-2     In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach until the day He was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles He had chosen.
John 14:11-15     Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask Me for anything in My name, and I will do it. "If you love Me, you will obey what I command.
